Seven weeks after the mysterious death of King Ludwig II in 1886, Neuschwanstein Castle was opened to public – and still is.
The shy king had the castle built as his personal safe haven to escape from public life. And although it has never been finished, the beauty of one of the most important castles and palaces in the world impresses more than 1.4 million visitors each year. And its setting with the Alps and Bavarian forests around it could not be any more idyllic.
